It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerome A. Jones, who passed away on July 1, 2025, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends.
Jerome, affectionately known as "Bone, Road Dog and Pappy", was employed with Hopewell Public Schools and was a member of Union Baptist Church (Davisville).
Jerome was a devoted Washington Commanders (Redskins) fan. Jerome loved to go hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time visiting his family and friends.
Mrs. Ida Belle Collins, Hopewell, departed this life Friday, November 8th, at the Westport Rehabilitation Center, Henrico. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am, Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Higher Way Ministries, 515 Virginia Ave., Petersburg, VA. Interment will follow in the Amelia Veteran's Cemetery, Amelia, VA. Public Visitation will be held from 10am-8pm, Wednesday, November 20th at the Petersburg Chapel of Bland Funeral Home, 137 Harrison Street, Petersburg, VA.
Calvin Alphonso Gilliam, Sr. affectionately known as “Al” entered into eternal rest peacefully early Saturday morning, October 5, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his residence. He was born to the late Horace Irving Gilliam, Sr. and the late, Edna Brown Gilliam of Hopewell, Virginia on June 23, 1949. Calvin was preceded in death by both parents, Horace and Edna Gilliam, and sisters, Deane Gilliam, and Diane Brown.
